Dr. Suraj Pawar is the Chief Surgical Oncologist at Kolhapur Cancer Centre. Dr. Pawar has extensive experience in Minimally Invasive Oncosurgery and is credited with developing a new technique of Surgery for Cancer of Esophagus. Dr. Suraj Pawar has performed over 5000 successful Cancer Surgeries at Kolhapur Cancer Centre. Several of these are landmark surgeries nationally and internationally.

Awards and publications

Dr.Pawar has extensive experience in Minimally Invasive Oncosurgery and is credited with developing a new technique of Surgery for Cancer of Esophagus Thoracoscopic esophagectomy in “Dorsolateral position – an Innovative approach: The Pawar Technique” He has also performed Live demonstrations of this advanced surgery at several National and International Conferences. His innovative technique is a part of the teaching video accredited by American Board of Surgeons with CME credit points for its members. Dr. Suraj Pawar has delivered several talks as invited faculty at National and International Conferences and has had several publications to his credit.

1. Founder Vice-President, Maharashtra Oncology Group – This group consists of over 200 Oncologists in Maharashtra. 2. Executive Committee Member of IASO (Indian Association of Surgical Oncologists and AMASI (Association of Minimally Access Surgeons of India). 3. Dr. Pawar is a part of an NGO – AVANI (Anna-Vastra-Nivara) that works for the child labourers, orphans and destitute to help them getting food, clothing and shelter and Education.
